Fall Has Arrived

Yes it’s hard to believe that the fall season has started, well the official start is September 22nd.  But with all of the fall decorations in the stores and the pumpkin spice flavored everything ready for our enjoyment, who can’t start to feel like fall.  Well, maybe the weather hasn’t received the memo here in Sarasota yet.  September is the kick off month to many of the going-on’s here in our not so little town.

September kicks off the 5th fall series of the the Ringling Underground held in the Ringling Museum Courtyard.  The Ringling Underground features an electric mix of local and regional live music. Admission is only $15 and is held on the 1st Thursday of every month from 8pm-11pm.  Select galleries will be open until 11pm as well.

Keeping Sarasota in tip top shape is important to its residents and visitors.  International Coastal Clean-up Day is on September 17 and October 22nd, and then National Public Lands Day is on September 24th.   Event volunteers will team up with the Sarasota County government and parks staff to clean up the coast and remove invasive vegetation from locations in Sarasota, Venice, North Port, Laurel, Nokomis and Englewood.

The 1st annual Viva International Latino Festival will be held on September 24th in downtown Lakewood Ranch.  Enjoy live music, cuisine, dance presentations, a children’s carnival, and arts and crafts from 50 Latin countries.

On September 24th you may want to head over to the Mystic Bazar to indulge in some unique jewelry and gems.  This event also features a metaphysical market and psychic readings.  It will be held in the Municipal Auditorium and admission is $5.

Ready to end the summer with an evening on the beach?  Check out the Venice Beach Party and Music Festival on September 24th featuring food and beer vendors.  The festival will be held on the Venice public beach from 3pm-8pm with free admission.

Slip into your lederhosen to kick off Oktoberfest.  Join in on the costume party at Mandeville Beer Garden on September 26th.  While there enjoy some German beer, food and the unforgettable sounds of the live polka band.
